As water sports junkies ourselves, always looking for kicks of adrenaline, wouldn’t it be great to have a handbook to all the top spots? Here it is – Cornwall style!

If you’re local to Cornwall or just love visiting there for trips and adventures, keep reading for the top Cornish paddleboarding locations.

The River Fowey

One of the most picturesque river spots in Cornwall, the Fowey River is not only a beauty of a SUP location but is also surrounded by various Cornish birds and wildlife to spot along the way.

No fear if you’re a novice because The River Fowey is ideal for all levels of experience, and you can even hire paddleboarding equipment nearby and book SUP lessons at Polkerris Beach.

This nature spot is located right next to Daphne Du Maurier’s house (the ex-home of a British novelist; now a tourist attraction) which can be seen as you paddleboard down the river.

St. Michael’s Mount

The water at St. Michael’s Mount very rarely gets rough, so this is perfect for paddleboarding on perfectly still and scenic waters.

There are plenty of Cornish landmarks around the area; set off from the mainland in Marazion and head across to the island where you’ll find a café and more. There’s even the 14th-century castle of St. Mount, en route.

This is another spot, perfect for both novices and experts; even kids, and you can head to Ocean High to hire equipment for the day.

Portreath Beach

Portreath is one for the more experienced paddleboarders due to the unpredictable swell but is a truly amazing gem of North Cornwall.

Heading down the coast will take you to Ralph’s Cupboard, a secluded yet stunning cave with its very own beach inside.

If you’re lucky, you might even spot seals and dolphins when out at sea.

The Camel Estuary

Where do we start with The Camel Estuary? There are so many scenic routes to explore, the only problem is choosing which one!

One of the most popular routes is the one that leads to Padstow (recommended for experienced paddle boarders only).

Start at Dennis Cove and paddle to Little Petherick Creek where you’ll spot herons, egrets and other wild birds.

The Old Mill House is also nearby, where you can stop for a spot of lunch and maybe even a cream tea if you fancy it.

Camel Ski School is the place to go for all your SUP equipment in this area.

Lostwithiel

Lostwithiel is a small historic town in Cornwall. Coulson Park is where you’ll be able to access the river and head towards Shirehall Moor and The River Fowey.

With little tourism, this is one of the best spots for a quiet and peaceful day out on the water.

River Joyz of Cornwall is the place to go for all of your paddle board and kayak equipment and also tours of the Fowey River and Lostwithiel.

Porthcurno Beach

Heading to the South of Cornwall, Porthcurno Beach is Cornwall’s very own tropical island.

Packed full of secret beaches and hidden coves, this is one of Cornwall’s top spots for a quiet paddle along the coast, away from the busy summer rush.

Logan Rock is down on your left and along the way, you’ll see plenty of fascinating rock formations that you wouldn’t see anywhere else.

It’s known for its white Cornish sand and clear turquoise water – who needs the Canary Islands when you’ve got views like these on your doorstep?
