Reconnect with some of the best holiday destinations in the world with our top recommendations for 2022.

With travel having been uncertain for the most part of the past 2 years, we’re looking ahead to 2022 to rekindle the adventure you’ve missed out on. Here are our top recommendations…

Hachinohe, Japan

Known for its gorgeous coastline, Hachinohe is home to many beautiful islands, beaches and festivals to explore on your travels.

Kabushima is a great tourist attraction to add to your to-do list and is home to the black-tailed seagulls (Umi Neko) where thousands of these birds breed.

The Kabushima Shrine is also something to explore if you’re visiting Hachinohe; a beautiful, religious Japanese site that even has a souvenir shop.

You can book your very own tour ahead of your trip on Tripadvisor, here.

Festivals

The Sansha Taisai and Enburi festivals are two of the most well-known festivals in the city.

Sansha Taisai is always held during the first week of August and is branded as ‘Japan’s biggest float festival’.

The Enburi festival takes place on the third week of February, a Winter festival for celebrating the harvest.

Palau, Micronesia

Palau has one of the most affluent marine ecosystems in the world and has enforced many eco rules to sustain its eco-footprint.

When visiting Palau, you will receive a stamp on your passport which shows you are promising that “the only footprints I shall leave are those that will wash away.”

The citizens celebrate the annual shark week from February 27 to March 6, 2022 – this will be the 20th annual shark week. Visitors can swim with the sharks and take part in diving and observations of the species.

Costa Rica, Central America

Have you heard of the El Camino de Costa Rica? This is a 174-mile-long hiking route made up of a whopping 164 stages. It passes through native villages and towns and stretches from the Caribbean to the Pacific.

Machu Picchu, Peru

The Inca Trail is a must if you’re visiting Peru. This is a Peruvian hiking trail that takes around 4-5 days to complete.

It’s considered a moderate level hike, so if you’re a beginner to hiking adventures abroad, this trail wouldn’t be the worst to start with.

The trail reaches a peak point of 13,828 feet (4,215 metres) which showcases some great views, including the Dead Woman’s Pass; a view that people believe looks like a woman laid down (hence the name).
