We’ve got to that time of year again when Christmas dinners, chocolates and Christmas cake are all on the brain and ready to take over our diets, and rightly so, but when it gets to the New Year a lot of us choose to focus on health and fitness as a result of this festive food overload. 

If you’re looking to better your fitness regime in 2022, we have lots of activities that will not only keep you active but are much more enjoyable than just going for a jog if this isn’t your thing. 

Adventure Race 

There are plenty of adventure races and mud runs, come Summer and many are in support of various amazing charities.  

Not only are these a great form of fitness but they’re also a fun way you can spread awareness and show your supports to various charities that are close to the heart.

Walking & Outdoor Photography 

For some, walking and hiking is a nice excuse to make time for yourself and spend time outdoors, but for others that don’t do it so regularly, it requires a bit more motivation. 

Why not start a passion for outdoor photography and use this as your basis for where you go walking? 

It’s also a great social exercise to undertake with friends and family. 

Join a Fitness Class or Club 

If you’re already a gym fanatic, we’re sure there are endless classes at your local gym. And if you’re not much of a gym-goer but wish you were, classes and clubs in your local area are a great way to start and find out what you enjoy. 

This is a great way at meeting new people too. Here is a list of potential classes you might enjoy, just to name a few… 

  • Spinning classes 
  • Yoga or pilates 
  • Zumba  
  • HIIT workouts  
  • Water aerobics 

Wild Water Swimming 

Good for your immunity and general health, wild water swimming is a great water sport if you have a local, beach, river, or lake near where you live.

Smart/Fitness Watches 

A lot of people fail to keep to their fitness resolutions because they simply don’t know how it’s benefiting them or whether it’s even working. 

Fitness trackers such as Apple watches and Fitbits are great ways to monitor your daily steps, heart rate and general fitness activity, so you can compare these stats to previous days, weeks and months to stay motivated.
